On Nov. 6, 1987, the Reds traded one of my favorite players of the 80s, Kurt Stillwell, to the Royals for southpaw Danny Jackson.
A couple of other guys were involved, but that’s irrelevant.
Jackson responded by almost winning the 1988 NL Cy Young, losing out Orel Hershiser and his gaudy scoreless streak.
The San Francisco Giants are looking to stave off elimination today in the NLDS when they take on the Reds at the Great American Ballpark.
Ryan Vogelsong is on the hill and he’ll need to channel the effectiveness of Mike Krukow in RBI Baseball to give the Giants a chance against Cincy.
Tonight, Dusty Baker will manage his 3,000th game in the majors when the Reds lock horns with the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Dave Parker is one of the most underrated baseball players of all-time.
You have to wonder if his drug abuse hindered his chances at making the Hall of Fame.
Despite that, “Cobra” remained a productive player late into his career.
With all of his accolades, Parker still never received more than 25% of the Hall of Fame vote. If you ever get a chance, compare his numbers to Kirby Puckett’s.
