80s Baseball Player of the Day |
An ode to baseball's eightiest decade |
Dave Parker is one of the most underrated baseball players of all-time.
You have to wonder if his drug abuse hindered his chances at making the Hall of Fame.
Despite that, “Cobra” remained a productive player late into his career.
With all of his accolades, Parker still never received more than 25% of the Hall of Fame vote. If you ever get a chance, compare his numbers to Kirby Puckett’s.
Harold Baines has more career hits than George Sisler and Ken Griffey, Jr.
Marinate on that for a minute.
The hirsute Bruce Sutter.
Hall of Famer, beard trendsetter, St. Louis Cardinal hero, World Series champion.
But most importantly, RBI Baseball shutdown reliever.
Also, is it just me or does Sutter resemble bro from “Beerfest?”
Wade Boggs was rocking a Bon Iver beard prior to hipsters and before Justin Vernon.
He is also known to be a prodigious drink of canned beer.
What hatches first, the mullet or the beard?
Aguilera, minus the face moss, had a pretty solid career after the Mets traded him (along with Tapani and others) for Frank Viola in a classic 80s baseball trade.
Two World Series rings, three All-Star bids and a spot in the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame isn’t too shabby.
Just because he’s bereaved, doesn’t mean Greg Luzinski is a sap.
“The Bull” not only bears an uncanny resemblance to Walter Sobchak, but also the best hitter in your Sunday Morning slow-pitch softball league.
I wish you still got baseball cards in your pet food sacks.

This should have been the concept behind Oz: The Great and Powerful.
